Anael had been keeping an eye out for Alcuin without noticing him - until, of course, he spotted him with Hannibal, his attention drawn by the love radiating from the alcove. They were locked in a lover's embrace, for all that only one of them felt the warm sort of love Anael knew to recognise. There had been a flicker of something else for a second, coming from Hannibal, but it was gone as soon as it had sparked. It both warmed his heart and seeped cold into his bones, and he turned away to get another glass of wine from a passing waiter.

He had found Julie again in the crowd, and she was just telling him about this other party she was off to, and that he absolutely ought to come to. It was then that he spotted a flash of white in the crowd, making his way towards the exit, and he leaned in to kiss Julie's cheek, and gave her his warmest apologies, but there was a friend here that he had yet to catch, and she should make the most of her night. He would catch up with her if he could, but otherwise, she truly ought to seize the day.

Not that she needed him to tell her that.

He caught up with Alcuin, dressed in a white suit as Hannibal had described, the better to make him look... well, angelic, Anael supposed humans would call him. "Alcuin," he greeted him warmly, assuming that the mask on his features would not stop the young man from recognising him, as it had not stopped Hannibal. "Tell me you aren't on your way out already. I've been looking for you."

Another happy sigh from Alcuin as he closed his eyes and listened to the sound of Hani's voice, still idly stroking his skin.

When he had finished the first poem, Anael moved on to another random one. Again, love and sex were interwoven so tightly that it was impossible to tell where one ended, and the other began; just the way Anael preferred it. And the moment seemed so perfect for such a reading, with the soft stroke of Alcuin's fingers and his warmth against him, both physical and emotional.

Alcuin had always found Anafiel's poetry to be very sexy. It was full of the kind of desire wrought from love.

Without even thinking, Alcuin brought the fingers of Hani's free hand to his mouth and kissed them.

Anael smiled at the kiss, which worked fairly well as that emotion fed into the poem he was currently reading. He finished it, leaving Alcuin free reign of his hand, arm still around his shoulders, then pressed a kiss to his temple. "Thank you," he told him quietly. "For sharing this with me."

"It feels very nice to share it with someone," Alcuin said with another little sigh.

Assuming that Alcuin meant with someone else - he surely would have shared it with Hannibal, at least - Anael turned to another random page, to quietly read another poem.

This one was even sexier than the last, and Alcuin found himself squirming a little in response. He laughed breathily. "Now I'm not entirely certain if it's all the words or also your voice that's so sexy."

Anael smiled delightedly at the compliment. It would have been impossible for him not to notice the slow shift in the atmosphere; there was genuine affection between them, colouring everything. But he was not going to act on it, and let Alcuin set the boundaries of their friendship.

"The words are probably to blame, you realise," he stated, still smiling. "Unless you've always found my voice sexy, and are only now speaking up."

"Well it's a nice voice," Alcuin admitted. This also made him think of Hannibal, because that accent. "I don't think that just anyone reading it would be as sexy."

Anael's smile warmed further, although he wasn't convinced that it had much to do with his voice. But he wasn't convinced that it mattered very much either way, either. "Thank you, Alcuin." He definitely sounded pleased with the compliment.

Alcuin took the book from him then, still curled up against Hani as he flipped through the pages to one particular poem, and handed it to him. "This one."

It was out of all of them perhaps the most explicit: a letter to a lover far away, full of desire for what the speaker would like to do to him if he could.

Anael reached out to pick up his long discarded glass of wine, and take a sip, setting it back down as he accepted the book back. "Alright," he agreed, amused and happy to comply. He started to read again, his amusement, among other things, growing at the vivid pictures so wonderfully described in the poem. But he did not mind in the least; there was nothing sinful about his arousal, on the contrary. It was, as always, deeply mired in love.

"It is most definitely the words," he stated quietly, after leaving a few seconds of silence at the end of the poem.

Alcuin was feeling much the same, and he hoped he wasn't being... inappropriate. Somewhere in the back of his mind, something was scolding him, that he'd finally made a friend, a real friend, and did he really have to bring sex into it? But he couldn't help that the closeness he felt to Hani was accompanied by attraction.

Alcuin let the silence linger for a moment and then said softly, "There's a second part." He took the book from Hani then, turned the page, and read the next part of the poem aloud... and translated it to French.

Well, this certainly did nothing to abate the growing arousal in Anael. French or English, that mattered very little, in the end, but to feel the love Alcuin had felt for the author, and for his words, reflected in the perfect, clearly well thought out translation... "Did you translate it for him?" he asked, once Alcuin was done, watching the young man's profile.

"He spoke French," Alcuin said. "I once asked him to recite it for me in French..." And that memory as well was doing nothing to abate Alcuin's growing desire. He took a shallow breath.

"So those were his words, still?" Anael asked, reaching for his glass of wine again. That made Anafiel a talented translator, as well as poet. And the fact that Alcuin would have learned the translation by heart was yet another testimony of his love for the man. He took a sip of wine, the coolness welcome when he felt so warm. "I truly wish I could've met him."

That was nice to hear. Fondness for Anafiel.

Alcuin was quiet for a moment, and found himself stroking his fingers over Hani's wrist again.

"Hani..." His voice was quiet. "Are you feeling desire?"

Anael smiled at the question, and confirmed, honestly, "Yes."

"Me, too." Alcuin's fingers stilled. "Is that okay?"

[whispersoflove]

"Of course it is," Anael told him honestly, shifting his hand to tangle their fingers together again. "We don't have to do anything about it. Unless you want to?"

"Oh... I don't know, maybe... a little?" Alcuin tilted his head, lips poised for a kiss.

A little. Anael smiled, and slid his free hand to cradle Alcuin's jaw as he leaned in and kissed him, soft but not without desire - and love, as always. "As little or as much as you want," he told Alcuin after breaking the kiss.

It was a really nice kiss. "A little more of that, to start," he murmured, and kissed him again, sliding his hands around Hani's neck.

Anael readily complied, kissing Alcuin more leisurely now, taking his time, tongues slowly sliding together. Oh, but this was lovely, the easy warmth of it, like the perfect continuation to the poetry, so full of both love and desire.

Alcuin let out a little moan into the kiss, enjoying how leisurely and emotional it was. He barely knew Hani, and yet he felt like there was so much affection in this.
